Privacy Policy
Plain-language privacy standards: our assessment runs client-side in your browser with zero personal data collection, tracking, or user accounts.
The Home Safe Index operates as a client-side utility. We do not require you to create an account, register an email address, or enter your name. All questionnaire responses, mobility notes, and home hazard calculations are processed locally inside your web browser.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
Unlike traditional home-assessment portals or lead-generation websites, we do not capture, harvest, or monetize personal details. Specifically:
2. How Assessment Data Is Processed
When you walk through your home and answer questions about stairs, lighting, grab bars, or floor rugs, those answers are evaluated entirely within your device’s browser memory:
- Client-Side Scoring Execution: The risk calculation algorithm, hazard weighting formulas, and tiered recommendations are executed locally via JavaScript on your device.
- Temporary In-Memory State: Answers live only in your browser tab’s memory for the duration of your visit. Nothing is written to disk, nothing is saved to local storage, and nothing is sent to a server.
- Discarded on Close: Closing, refreshing, or navigating away from the browser tab immediately discards all answers and resets the assessment.
3. Third-Party Services & Links
To maintain transparency regarding how the site operates:
Affiliate Links (Amazon Associates)
When our recommendations suggest vetted hardware (such as motion sensor night lights, stair contrast tape, or ADA-compliant grab bars), we provide direct links to Amazon. Clicking an outbound link directs you to Amazon’s website, which is governed by Amazon’s own Privacy Notice and tracking policies. We do not transmit your assessment responses or room scores to retail partners.
Web Infrastructure & Hosting
Like virtually all web services, our hosting infrastructure logs standard technical connection data (such as IP addresses, browser user agent strings, and request timestamps) strictly for security, denial-of-service prevention, and server reliability. These server connection logs are not linked to your walkthrough answers.
4. We Do Not Sell Your Data
We do not sell, rent, license, or trade questionnaire responses, household profiles, or demographic information to data brokers, insurance carriers, advertising exchanges, or healthcare marketers.
5. Assessing on Behalf of Loved Ones
Many users complete this assessment on behalf of an aging parent, relative, or neighbor. Because the assessment questions focus exclusively on environmental room features (such as lighting levels, step heights, and grab bar placements), no protected health information (PHI) or personally identifiable information regarding your loved one is requested, collected, or transmitted.
6. Updates to This Policy
We may update this privacy statement periodically to reflect technical or legal improvements. When revisions occur, the updated policy will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
